SFD2 (UNECE) is the next level of SFD to meet the regulations of UNECE R155 & R156 . SFD ( Schutz Fahrzeug Diagnose ) is a security feature for Volkswagen Audi Group (VAG) vehicles from 2022 introduced in cars like Octavia mk4 or A8 that protects the car's control units from unauthorized access. From 2024 onwards, cars are protected by SFD2. SFD2 is designed to protect the car's software, especially for updates performed over the air (OTA). It restricts functions like adaptations, coding, and parametrizations. The control units protected by SFD include Engine Electronics, Central Electrics, Instrument Cluster, Gateway Electrics, Multimedia Unit and few more.
