What's VW & Skoda SFD2
SFD2 (UNECE) is the next level of SFD to meet the regulations of UNECE R155 & R156.
SFD (Schutz Fahrzeug Diagnose) is a security feature for Volkswagen Audi Group (VAG) vehicles from 2022 introduced in cars like Octavia mk4 or A8 that protects the car's control units from unauthorized access. From 2024 onwards, cars are protected by SFD2.
SFD2 is designed to protect the car's software, especially for updates performed over the air (OTA). It restricts functions like adaptations, coding, and parametrizations.
The control units protected by SFD include Engine Electronics, Central Electrics, Instrument Cluster, Gateway Electrics, Multimedia Unit and few more.

What's it's impact on coding of Indian cars like Virtus, Taigun, Kushaq and Slavia
So all features can't be done in the same old price which used to be under 6000 ₹ for cars manufactured in or after April 2024 having virtual cockpit/ digital instrument cluster like:
- Virtus Topline/ GT
- Taigun Topline/ GT
- Slavia Prestige/ Monte Carlo
- Kushaq Prestige/ Monte Carlo
Below features related to virtual cockpit can't be enabled without unlocking the instrument cluster module but now few are doing but it costs almost 15000-20000 ₹:
✅ 80 kmph speed chime removal
✅ 120 kmph speed chime removal
✅ Tachometer/RPM gauge
✅ Speedometer top limit from 260 to 280
✅ Refuel quantity
✅ Oil temperature
✅ Eco tips
✅ Tyre angle
